Winemaker's Notes

This year's bottling comes entirely from B-block, planted in 2001 to a Wente selection from the Hyde Vineyard, so the vines were ten years old this vintage and further developing their maturity. Hudson Vineyard wines tend to a more muscular, masculine character—broad-shouldered, if you will.

Critical Acclaim

"A classic California Chardonnay, the 2010 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard bursts from the palate with honey, nectarine, butterscotch, orange blossoms and flowers. Rich, plush and totally inviting, David Ramey’s Hudson is a great expression of this famous Carneros site. Beautiful, vivid and constantly changing in the glass, the 2010 is wonderfully alive and classy throughout. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. "
95 Points

"Bright, green-tinged gold. Sexy aromas of poached pear, peach pit and smoky minerals on the nose, with anise and sweet butter qualities coming up with aeration. Lush, waxy lemon curd and orchard fruit flavors pick up smokiness with air, along with notes of iodine and vanilla. Juicy pear and tangerine flavors cling on the impressively long, sappy finish, which echoes the lees and anise qualities."
94 Points

"Deftly proportioned, this offers a mix of green apple, citrus and pear flavors that build momentum through the finish, revealing subtle oak notes."
