This year's blend comes 54% from two Sangiacomo vineyards, Tall Grass and Green Acres; 20% from Larry Hyde's own Bayview Vineyard (this is his personal vineyard and not the Hyde Vineyard, but also in Napa), 11% Hudson Vineyard and 15% Platt Vineyard (Sonoma Coast), to lighten the blend. The heavier, clay-based soils of Carneros produce wines with a broad, full mouthfeel.
"More open in aroma than on the palate, this wine shares familial traits in its firm and slightly citrusy flavors. Its has good depth to match up with its still nascent fruit, and if more generous than its mate below, it comes with much of its texture. Both in nose and structure, it suggests a lot more to be found with a few years of quiet time in the cellar."
