Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Original Chenin is crafted without the use of any oak in order to preserve the wine's "original," vibrant, fresh fruit character. It's packed with succulent flavors of golden delicious apple and citrus, with hints of pineapple, honeysuckle and orange blossom with a bright, tangy minerality.

Critical Acclaim

"This wine shows character and layers of flavor in its straightforward yet elegant approach. A mineral thread stitches together the ripe fruit notes of white melon, yellow apple, pear and Key lime. Medium weight, with a bit of a nervy feel right now, give this another year to really shine."
88 Points

"Pale golden yellow. Ripe, musky aromas of pineapple and honey. Plump and ripe in the mouth, offering noteworthy richness to the apple, yellow fruit and honey flavors. Shows a touch of minerality but little in the way of citrus character. Finishes dry, smooth and persistent."

This organization seemed to favor quantity over quality and had most...
