winemaker's notes:

The rich hue of the 2010 leaves the impression that this is going to be a big powerful Zin. But you quickly discover the wine is well-behaved. A brambly, berry-driven Zinfandel that delivers not only classic Dry Creek flavors of raspberries, but also wonderful boysenberry and plum notes accented by a good dose of baking spices and just a touch of oak.

While it would work well with just about any grilled meat, it has a particular affinity for barbecue.

critical acclaim:

"A compact and classical Dry Creek Valley zinfandel, this holds red fruit and cracked black peppercorn spice within the darker tones of its tannins. The structure is firm but doesn't add weight, strengthening the spice through the finish. This has the fortitude to age with grace, or decant it now for pulled pork. Best Buy"

Wine & Spirits

"Inky ruby. Seductive aromas of raspberry, cinnamon and lavender, with a smoky mineral overtone. Sappy red fruit flavors are firmed and lifted by bitter pomegranate and orange zest notes, with slow-building spiciness adding complexity. The persistent, vibrant finish repeats the red fruit and spice notes and shows an almost pinot-like character. Decidedly graceful for zin and drinking very well right now."

rating (4/6/2013):

This is a rather weak zin with some rasberry on the nose and palate; however, it is very sour on the after taste, definitely not a good wine on my palate.
rating (4/3/2013):
While it was not a bad wine I still much prefer the 7 deadly zins over this product. Not only does 7 deadly zins taste better it is cheaper. YMMV
Style:Light & Fruity
rating (1/6/2013):
Earthy and bold, somewhere in between earthy and spicy and big and bold. Perhaps just a little young with a lot of fruit. Definitely on the repurchase list to store for a few years.
