red wine style:
Light & Fruity Smooth & Supple Earthy & Spicy Big & Bold
winemaker's notes:

This blend is dark red, with crimson highlights and an intense, mature red fruit nose, with hints of violets and "esteva" (a local Portuguese herb). The palate shows great structure and a full-bodied elegance, with mature, round tannins, leading to a long, persistent finish.

critical acclaim:

"Powerful and refined red from Portugal, with concentrated flavors plum, dried cherry and spice. Fine texture, with plenty of savory herbal notes, and a long olive- and smoke-filled finish."

Wine Spectator

"Ample, perhaps even formidable (certainly for a $20 wine), this has a beautiful tactile feel to the fruit. It's as plump and sweet as a perfectly ripe red plum, the tannins reserved and elegant, expressed in the soft mode of pencil lead and cedar shavings. Smooth and ready to enjoy, this would make a luscious accompaniment to grilled lamb."

Wine & Spirits

"The 2007 TINTO is a Douro blend. It is another fine "regular" Tinto in this very consistent 2007 vintage. This relatively low priced Tinto has a hidden advantage in that a significant portion of its blend (27% this year) is an old vines field blend from 70 year old vines. The young vines portion (defined as 15 years old, which is fine for most people) includes Touriga Franca (25%), Tinta Roriz (20%), Touriga Nacional (20%), Tinta Amarela (5%) and Sousao (3%). Although it does not show a lot of mid-palate depth, noting that the wines from this estate are always on the more elegant side, it has fine structure and complexity, a certain earthy nuance and some brightness. It is gripping on the finish and should develop a medley of flavors as it ages. It is yet another in the string of regular or second wines in this vintage that perform particularly well at excellent price points."

rating (9/29/2010):
A truly distinctive wine. Deep colored with a perfumed scent of black cherries, ripe plum, toasty vanilla and exotic spices. On the palate, deep, rich and complex with a piquant quality to the fruit. Nicely balanced with a lingering finish. Will give Bordeaux and Cabernets a run for the money. Check my review at: www.ramblingcork.com

Not Great..don't believe the reviews. Flat.. even a bit thin. Didn't have the deep Jammy flavor the review would lead you to believe
