Winemaker's Notes

"The magnificent dark ruby-colored 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon is a winemaking tour de force. A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot, its bouquet can best be described as syrup of Cabernet Sauvignon. Intensely sweet blackberry, cassis liqueur, cherry, and blueberry jam aromas burst from the glass. Produced from the Champoux (70%) and Red Mountain (30%) vineyards, it possesses a medium to full-bodied character as well as extraordinary breadth to its massive personality. Focused layers of black currant jam and blackberry juice surge across the taster's palate, lasting for nearly a minute. A wine of unsurpassed power yet prodigious elegance, it is reminiscent of my first taste of the 1990 Margaux. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020"
