winemaker's notes:
"Made from 100% Tempranillo, the 2004 Protocolo Tinto, from relatively high elevation (2,700 feet) vineyards planted on both limestone and clay, reminds me of a tasty, straightforward French Cotes du Rhone. Notions of roasted herbs, pepper, and black cherries jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, straightforward, satisfying, well-made, dry red. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years." - The Wine Advocate

A very fine wine for a steal of a price. Light ruby in color, leather and berry on the nose, not a whole lot of fruit, medium bodied, just the right amount of tannin, but with a short finish. Goes well on its own, but I plan to have it with pizza tonight. Could stand up to heavier fare.

This wine was recommended by the owner of the wine store I frequent. Enjoyed it with lamb chops. Light bouquet, medium red color, medium body, good balance, a full taste of spice, dark cherry flavors. Quite tannic. Nice aftertaste. Definitely reminds me of a French Cotes du Rhone.
