Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This Cabernet Sauvignon has a vivid ruby color with a dark purple tinge. The nose is rich, displaying aromas of blackberry and blueberry with hints of oak and cinnamon. This is a smooth wine with good structure and a long finish tasting of red fruit.

Critical Acclaim

"A rich style, exhibiting black cherry, black currant, cedar and chocolate aromas and flavors. The tannins are firm, but there's plenty of fruit, so give this a year. Best from 2013 through 2020."

agree with other reviewer-needs a bit more aging to smooth it out-will hold for at least another year. Has great color and body.I'm not a pro but I would not describe this as light.

A nice rich, lovely tasking wine, but a bit green. We were warned -- best served in 2013. Hopefully, we can be patient, but it's quite good and may not make it to 2013.

Prelius is the name given by the Romans to the ancient costal lake of Prile. Already with the Etruscans the land surrounding the lake was a flourishing community dedicated to fishing and to the commerce of salt. The coastal lake used to lay from the Argentario peninsula to Castiglione della Pescaia, separated from the sea by a sandy strip that is now the marvelous pine-wood of...

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
