This is the flagship Pinot Noir from Porter Creek, one of the pioneers of Russian River and among the few that remain family owned. The hillside estate vineyard is biodynamically farmed. High-pitched red berries, peppery spices and minerals on the nose, with a bright floral nuance adding complexity. On the palate, juicy redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors put on weight and become smokier with air. In a fresh, old-school zin style, finishing with very good clarity, silky tannins and a lingering raspberry quality.
"Bright red. High-pitched aromas of fresh red berries, blood orange and minerals, with a touch of cola adding depth. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and cherry flavors that put on weight with air. Shows very good breadth and velvety texture, finishing with excellent clarity, gentle tannins and a lingering red fruit preserve quality. Alex Davis called this wine his "mission statement: the kind of wine I'd make and drink every day, if I could." "
