This wine shows delicate beige gold, the beige coming from a small amount of pigment from this grape which colours to a purple-grey at full maturity on the vine. Like the gewurztraminer, it has a big, full palate with tropical fruit, musk, apple and guava. At this stage it is quite perfumed, but in the minerally/fruity spectrum that makes pinot gris so hard to describe. The palate is long, clean and dry and in terms of palate structure, pinot gris sits like the chardonnay of Alsace. This appears to be a very good vintage and will repay with three to four years cellar age.
