winemaker's notes:

#84 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2012

The majority of the blend of Piper-Heidsieck signature Cuvee Brut is composed of Pinot Noir. Hand selected parcels of Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay also play important roles in the elaboration of this well-balanced cuvee. Selected reserve wines from preceding years are incorporated into the blend to ensure consistency of style year after year. The blend is aged for minimum 24 months on the lees before release.

critical acclaim:

"Elegant, with rich base notes of toasted brioche and smoke adding depth, this integrates finely honed acidity, detailed texture and flavors of black cherry puree, apple tarte Tatin, kumquat and grated ginger. Provides a creamy, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2022."

Wine Spectator

"Toasty aromas leap from the glass in this deliciously mature wine. It is soft but still very dry, with acidity tamed by both fine, mature fruit and a creamy texture that sits well in the mouth. This is a very fine, tasty wine."

rating (12/23/2010):
We drink a lot of champagne, and we've tried a lot of different kinds, but we always come back to Piper Heidsieck, the basic brut. To us it is the platonic champagne, the benchmark, against which we describe all others; they are all lighter, crisper, darker, fuller. Maybe it's because we've been drinking and enjoying PH's basic brut for over 30 years now. It has a full bubble and a rich, nutty flavor, with little or no acid. It's not in an austere style, and lacks some of the more exotic flavors that pop up in some artisanal bubblies. It isn't Krug or La Grande Dame or a 1988 Acacia, but it is a magnificent champagne whether for a celebration or every day drinking.

Very good but slightly on the yeasty side.
rating (9/14/2010):
A great way to celebrate friends and family - this adds a little lift to the usual celebratory meal.
rating (12/19/2012):
I love this champagne. I have bought it for many years now and although a bit pricey, it is my go to holiday and special occasion champagne: not too dry, not too sweet--perfect.

Very affordable, appropriate for all kinds of occasions - I brought this with me across the country to celebrate our anniversary with family - it's not too sweet but still dry enough - everyone loves it
A Customer - toronto, ontario, canada
hsherman@trebnet.com - toronto, canada I have been a Realtor in the Greater Toronto Area for 25 years and am thrilled that I found your product 5 years ago. Now I serve it regularly when I entertain clients, when they move into their homes and have their housewarming parties; matter of fact at all of my entertainments. Luckily, I was given a sample 5 years ago during a promotion by the restaurant that I was having a celebration at, with my children. Ever since that time, I have always enjoyed this "joyful" product everytime I have a reason to celebrate. With the crisp, yet smooth flavour, this champage reigns supreme and enhances any entree. I have served this champagne to all of my company to absolute applause! Thank you for producing such a fine product, at such a reasonable price! I don't think any other champagne can compare.
