The name "Fides" means trust in Latin, and the Pio Cesare family has always had great trust in Barbera, grown in the Barolo region. An intense ruby red color with garnet reflections is present in the wine. The bouquet is distinguished with fresh ripe fruit. The palate is concentrated and focused with flavors of cherry, chocolate and ripe fruit. The wines lush, velvety flavros conclude with a persistently bold and austere finish. Aged 20 months in small French oak barrels.
"The 2005 Barbera d'Alba Fides is a soft-textured, caressing Barbera with beautiful aromatics that meld into a palate of ripe red cherries, spices and flowers. This medium- bodied, supple Barbera offers notable harmony. It should continue to drink well for several years. The Fides sees mostly French oak although a small amount of the wine is aged in 30-hectoliter casks." 90 Points Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate October 2008
