Black cherry and vibrant dark berry fruits provide a lifted perfume, combined with the peppery notes, toasted spice and hints of cedar. Complimentary musk and earthiness add to the complexity of the aromas in this wine. The palate shows opulent ripe, yet fresh blackberries with plum fruit, dark choco-late and licorice characters; as well as a hint of spearmint. The wine is rich and full bodied, but has an elegant soft texture throughout and fine tannins that carry the fruit into a lingering finish.
Blend: 68% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot
"The wine is named after the 19th-century mail coach service that ran through the pastoral property in Padthaway on which the large vineyard is situated. Other evocative brand names are Parson's Flat, The Trial of John Montford, Dead Letter Office, Morse Code and The Postmistress. The other thing they have in common is value for money. Light to medium purple-red, this is a shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot blend with a supple display of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum fruit on the light- to medium-bodied palate. It's an attractive, drink-now pizza or pasta style."
Australian Wine Companion
"Supple, silky and appealing for its red berry and spice flavors that lift off nicely over the refined finish. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot."
