ratings pedigree (past vintages):
winemaker's notes:

53% Shiraz, 37% Cabernet, 10% Merlot

Pillar Box red is an opaque red/black color with a scarlet rim. It displays aromas of sweet, ripe red berries, underpinned cinnamon spice and dark chocolate. The palate is rich and fleshy with vibrant raspberry and blackcurrant fruit intertwined with a citrus-like cedary oak complexity. The tannins are full yet soft and supple, combined with the gentle acidity to produce a lingering, harmonious finish.

rating (9/29/2010):
Body - ok, finish - ok - There are better $12 bottles of wine out there.
rating (9/27/2010):
This is a good drinkable wine that can hold its own against more expensive wines (those up to $40 range). While this wine is not as good as the Pillar Box 2005 Padthaway Red, it is still a good drinking wine with most regular food. It stands up to all types of spicy and dense foods while retaining its flavor. It is slightly sweet and not as dry as I would like but for the money, it is a good buy.

rating (9/24/2010):
A very good wine for an excellent price, really show some complexity. Could even age well. Has the structure of an old world wine.

rating (9/23/2010):
Not a bad wine for the price, it was okay, but I have had better in this price range.

Not Great

A great wine for the price.

Good value. Nice everyday red wine.
rating (9/29/2010):
I really was pleasantly surprised with this bottle. It packed a good burst of red exploding with deep berry fruity flavor.

rating (9/28/2010):
There was too much acid in this wine for my taste. I like mellower reds.
Sho Morimoto - Washington, DC (read all my reviews)
rating (9/27/2010):

While not terrible for the price, this shiraz-cabernet mix is way too acidic and spicy without enough of a body or flavor to balance it out.
Joseph Marmion - Lake In The Hills, IL (read all my reviews)
rating (9/27/2010):
Balanced, smooth, and elegant. This is a wine that can be consumed every day or on special occassions. One of the few wines of which I do not tire. I do not think it is a 91, but it is excellent value.

rating (9/27/2010):
Would buy this wine again. A very full bodied wine with great fruit flavor.

rating (9/26/2010):
Not a good wine, even for the price. It won't offend you, but won't satisify or excite you either.
rating (9/26/2010):
Excellent fruit, well balanced and very drinkable
Richard Zerr - Saint Charles, MO (read all my reviews)
rating (9/25/2010):

This wine is a good wine to have a glass with pizza or pasta. Don't take it too seriously.
rating (9/24/2010):
Good value at the price offered by Wine.com. The wine appears to drink a lot better after a day. Did not finish the first evening and found the wine to be a lot smoother in tastes the next day. Initial taste was rather sharp after opening but the color was good and vibrant. Bottom line, it is a good value wine at the price offered.
rating (9/24/2010):
Earthy tones. Solid but not overwhelming.
rating (9/23/2010):
A very nice everyday red. Smooth and fuity, with a little spice. Let it sit for 30 minutes and it's even smoother.
fL - Cincinnati, OH (read all my reviews)
rating (9/22/2010):
This is one of the worst wines I have ever tasted. I would not buy this even for $1 per bottle.
rating (9/14/2010):
This wine is loaded with fruit as soon as it hits the mouth. Has a nice smooth finish but yet full bodied. Not heavy with tannins. I'll be buying more of this wine.
rating (8/25/2010):

This wine is exceptional for the price, we have ordered another case....
rating (7/26/2010):
I'm not sure I'd rate it a "90", but for the price, it's fine.
rating (7/21/2010):
This is one of my wife and I's favorite wines by far. We are not wine snobs, but just love wine. This is a mouthful of fruit in every sip.
