For over 20 years, Petaluma's Coonawarra has been predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, two of the best varietals from South Australia's renowned Coonawarra region.
The fruit for Coonawarra is sourced from two main sites, the Evans Vineyard and the Sharefarners Vineyard. The average age of vines at Petaluma's Evans and Sharefarmers Vineyards is in excess of 30 years and these hand pruned, close spaced, vertical canopy vines are naturally balanced at modestcrop levels of 5 tonnes/hectare of hand picked fruit.
"In the tradition of Petaluma Coonawarra, relies on stealth rather than outright power; will stand the test of time, but will never scale the ultimate heights. "

"Deep, saturated red. Seductively perfumed array of red and dark berry, cherry, anise, tobacco and dried rose scents, along with a sexy vanilla undertone. Midweight bitter cherry and blackcurrant flavors pick up dusty tannins with air but maintain sweetness, finishing with an echo of cherry and vanilla. I suspect that this will gain more complexity with age but it's awfully appealing right now."
