Pessagno Winery Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir 2001
Pinot Noir
from Central Coast, California
winemaker's notes:
This jammy and complex wine has deep concentrated aromas of ripe black cherry, spice, and a hint of smoke. The full, lush mouth feel follows layered flavors of candied plum and vanilla, reflecting the depth of the fruit and lavish use of oak. Beautifully balanced, it offers good body, rich texture, and a long, lingering finish. Grilled meats or hearty bistro makes for a perfect match.

A Customer - Portland, OR
Dropped by the winery tasting room and almost fell off my chair - the taste was lush, full of Pisoni clone fruit and wonderful, rich finish. All French oak gives it tons of vanilla. Was on a plane and couldn't take but one bottle back home. That went into a private tasting with 8 friends and this was the highlight of the evening! And in Oregon, we know Pinot pretty well. Buy it. Drink it now. It's worth every penny.
Anyone who looks for the Gary's vineyard grape knows it's darn hard to find, most of the 20 or so winemakers who buy this grape are already sold out of their 2001 and 2002 product. Already 2003 is disappearing. And as wine goes, Stephen Peasagno made the most out this terrific clone.
