I'm a little torn on this wine. The 2007 blend is actually 65 syrah-35 grenache. It's everything you think it might be: lush and velvety texture with red cherries and black fruit, finished with a slightly peppery minerality. My issue with the wine is that it did not stand up to a red wine braised short rib. It fell really, really flat against it. It was a good wine before and after our actual meal, however.
