Pale white with youthful green hues - a
sensational color for a three year old, belying its true age. The nose shows intense lifted aromas of oyster shell, melon, cumquat blossom with a subtle, cheesy nougat, almond slake complexity. The palate is deceptively substantial. The layered complexity is finely balanced with mineral and slate flavors. Intense quince, loquat and grapefruit flavors and mouth-watering acidity are balanced by chalky phenolics.
"An elegant, refined style. Starts with a lovely range of delicately honeyed pear and apple flavors, riding smoothly on a silky texture and enough acidity to keep it fresh. This lasts and lasts. It feels like it can develop even more depth. Drink now through 2012. 100 cases imported."
"The 2005 Yattarna Chardonnay was barrel-fermented, went through malolactic fermentation, and was aged on its lees for nine months in 55% new French oak before bottling without filtration. Rounder and richer than Reserve Bin 06A, It, too, will blossom with several more years of bottle age. Drink it through 2017.
