The Thomas Hyland range honors the pioneering spirit of Thomas Hyland, son-in-law of Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold, whose stewardship of the company from the late 1800s until 1914 saw the development of what, in his lifetime, became Australia's most famous name in wine.

The 2004 Thomas Hyland Cabernet is opulent and full, with sweet wild raspberry freshness and an underpinning chocolatey richness. A typically tight, but generous varietal fruit structure is immediately satisfying in the glass whilst promising very good medium term cellaring prospects. The finely grained tannins and carefully integrated oak lend complexity to a sustained finish.
