Koonunga Hill is very much a reflection of the Penfolds winemaking style and philosophy. Since the first vintage of 1976 of Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, the brands reputation has been built on widespread acclaim.

Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, a multi-district blend based on Barossa, McLaren Vale and Coonawarra fruit, has become a Penfolds classic with a reputation for over-delivery of quality at its pricepoint.

There's some fruit (berries and cherry) in the nose. Medium body but the fruits are weak. The finish is dry and tannic, but without any really notable structure or flavors to linger. Drinkable table wine, but nothing impressive.

I was attracted to the Penfolds name. This wine has a good price point and is drinkable, yet unremarkable.
