Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz-Cabernet 1999
Red Wine
from Barossa Valley, Australia
winemaker's notes:
Colour: Intense plum red with vibrant ruby rim.
Nose: Warm and appealing, showing overt ripe fruit aromas of raspberry and plum in synergy with cinnamon and white pepper. Lifted cassis and menthol notes from the cabernet add freshness and complement a backdrop of appealing, dusty oak.
Palate: This medium bodied, elegant wine shows its signature integration of fruit and oak, with rounded, soft tannins and is nicely balanced with a sweet mid palate and well-defined finish. Initial flavours of fresh berries and vanilla merge into a spicy, savoury aftertaste. The tannins have a gentle, mouth-coating grainy quality, elegantly framing the traditional style of the wine.
Alc/Vol: 13.0%

A Customer - HKG
Penfolds 99 Koonunga Shiraz-Cabernet is leaner and lighter when compare with the 98, tasted on 1 Oct 01. You should also try the low end Panfolds Rawson's Retreat 00 which is very drinkable at a everyday price.
