Winemaker's Notes

The Nubiola is made from fruit sourced from vineyards in Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso, epicenter of the Barabaresco zone, and is aged in cask. The tannins and structure of this wine make it the most classic of the Pelissero Barbarescos.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2007 Barbaresco Nubiola caresses the palate with layers of round, sumptuous fruit. This is a more generous, enveloping style than the Tulin, and shows just an extra touch more depth. Dark red fruit, sweet spices, flowers, licorice and new leather come together beautifully in this harmonious Barbaresco. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027. "
93 Points

"Nebbiolo, the grape, and Nubiola, the designate name, stem from the same Italian word: nebbia, or “fog” that regularly blankets the Langhe. This bright Barbaresco is defined by a distinctive aroma of tar or freshly applied street asphalt that is typical of the variety. Additional aromas include back fruit, prune and plum. The mouthfeel is streamlined, tight and elegant."

Learn About Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo(neh-bee-OH-low) The King of Piedmont Nebbiolo is the key grape in the wines of Barolo and Barbaresco. It is not the most planted variety, but it does make the most distinctive and age-worthy wines. Native to Piedmont, Nebbiolo is a bit of a soil snob - it's finicky about where it grows and has long been the honored red grape of Northern Italy...
