A product of the great 2007 vintage, this wine is vibrant and racy, with bright minerality and a beam of mouthwatering acidity that supports layers of concentrated peach, spicy pear, green apple and honeydew melon. Intriguing floral and spice elements are accented by pleasing layers of vanilla, clove and maple syrup from the new French oak. Though it displays a precociously intense appeal right now, it is just going to get better and better, and is likely to be the longest lived vintage we have ever produced.
"The 2007 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch exhibits gorgeous notes of honeysuckle, green apple, lemon butter, melon, and vanilla. This rich, full-bodied Chardonnay possesses substantial flavor intensity, but is also refined and elegant. Enjoy it over the next 3-4 years.
The Wine Advocate
"The vintage was particularly successful for Patz & Hall, which achieved ripeness and balancing acidity with a seemingly effortless touch. This wine is brilliantly clean and extraordinarily rich in pineapples, Meyer lemons, sweet limes and minerals. Grows better as it warms in the glass."
"Very pale yellow. Discreet aromas of lemon, mirabelle and flowers, with a nutty, leesy complexity. Plump, round and rich; lower-toned than the Dutton Ranch but gained in clarity and lift with air. Finishes with some vanillin oak. This, too, seems rather closed today and needs some time in bottle."
