This vineyard yields fragrant, tropical aromatics underscored by a crisp mineral

Produced from some of the oldest plantings of Chardonnay in western Sonoma County, this wine is a blend

One of our finest incarnations of the Dutton Ranch Russian River Valley Chardonnay to date, this bright, enticing wine benefits from the addition of old-vine Wente selection fruit from the Dutton's Walker Hill block located in the cool climate of the Green Valley. From its wonderfully effusive aromas of stone fruit, green apple and narcissus to its pure fruit flavors of pineapple, peach and spicy pear, this Chardonnay offers an intricate, plush, creamy palate and a long, textured finish that combines finesse with dense, structured acidity.
"The 2007 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch exhibits a more buttery, caramel, and hazelnut-scented style, and in that sense, it harkens back to the older style of California Chardonnays. This broad, full-bodied, rich, bone dry effort reveals more oak than in some of its siblings. Consume it over the next 3-4 years. "
The Wine Advocate
"A rich but elegant Chardonnay. Shows massive, concentrated flavors of pineapple, pears and green apples, liberally accented with the vanilla and buttered toast of oak barrels. Flamboyant, yet balanced with crisp coastal acidity and a tang of minerals."
"Pale, bright yellow. Steely citrus peel aroma lifted by minerals and flowers. Juicy and subtle, offering more definition and grip to its pineapple, mineral and floral flavors than the Napa Valley version. Fresh acidity contributes to an impression of purity and thrust. But this firmly built, persistent wine is youthfully closed today."
