Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Dolcetto d'Alba Magna has an intense ruby red color, with purple reflections. The nose has a rich floral scent that is reminiscent of berries, which carries through to the taste.

Enjoy with pizza, simple pastas and chicken. It goes well with gorgonzola or other pungent Italian cheeses. When served slightly chilled, it is a lovely dessert wine but it is not sweet.

Had ordered it in previous shipment and expected good things based on winemakers notes. Aerated and decanted, but still a very, very young wine. Spot on to recommend with Pizza, not so much on cheeses ... Will be curious to see what it becomes next year, I've re-ordered specifically with that purpose, to see if that BOLDNESS comes through in 2013 versus now.

Ok Dolcetto. Great nose but not enough on the palate. Sort of one-dimensional. Opened up a little with time but still like others better at this price point.
