Named after the hillside vineyard located on the northeastern slope of the Yerga mountains in eastern Rioja, La Montesa is a blend of the red grape varieties on the Palacios Remondo estate. Renowned winemaker Alvaro Palacios describes this wine as having complex, profound and mysterious aromas that include notes of wild red berries, candied fruit, jasmine and sweet spice. On the palate the wine is unctuous and voluminous with soft tannins and a foundation of dark fruit shrouded by hints of shaved orange peel, white pepper and clove. Meant to enjoy now or age up to 10 years, this wine is very versatile and pairs well with almost any type of cuisine.
"Cola, nutmeg and tobacco notes frame plum, earth and coffee flavors in this brooding red, which has good grip and stays fresh through the smoky finish."
