winemaker's notes:
This 63 acre vineyard consists of various clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. The wines are separately aged for one year in French barrels before being blended to achieve an elegant yet firm style balancing fruit, acidity, oak and tannic backbone.

A Customer - Portland, OR
It is easy to see why Wine Spectator gave this wine top top honors of the 2001 wine of the year. The Ornellaia tastes like a great Napa Cabernet. This wine has incredible body with hints of smoke, mocha and oak. The tannins are quite strong so this wine should age for years to come. This is not your traditional Itallian wine, but a great wine none the less.
