Explosive wine! 1997 is the best vintage yet. The nose has black raspberries, coffee, and sweet tobacco. The palate brings out black berries, roasted nuts, fine tannins, and cassis. Saturated purple in color almost opaque. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from this special estate vineyard on the western hills of the Napa Valley.
"Dark and dense, with a strong pine and mint flavor dominating the rich, earthy currant and bay leaf. A big, broad-shouldered, immensely flavored wine."
"Fairly heavy and full, with a powerfully spicy and chocolaty nose. Dark-fruit and herb tastes are accented by a strong shot of coffee from the oak. The finish is tannic and drying, with more of that coffee and also some notes of licorice. Perfectly chunky, in the Napa/Oakville style."
"Saturated dark ruby color. Sappy aroma of cassis, shoe polish, chocolate and mint; essence of Napa cabernet. Intensely flavored but tightly wound; today the fruit is dominated by hard-edged acidity. Uncompromising, tannic cabernet that nonetheless shows a supple quality on the finish. A bit early to judge this wine."

Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...Read More About Cabernet Sauvignon
