Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Mouton-Cadet Blanc exudes fresh yellow fruit, white blossom, citrus fruit and lemon.

65% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Semillon, 5% Muscadelle

Style: Fruity & Smooth
As always (at least in our experience) this label has produced an excellent, solid performer for a good table white. We are stocking up! The wine is fresh, fruity with a good lengthy finish and pairs very well with grilled fish and lightly dressed pasta. It may be best with a fresh garden salad with marinated artichokes, olives and good crusty bread.

Learn About Mouton-Cadet

Since 1930, Mouton Cadet has been renowned for its exacting standards and audacity. The fruit of generous nature and the work of human hands, the result of the encounter between an exceptional terroir and the passion of Baron Philippe de Rothschild (1902-1988), over the years Mouton Cadet has consistently combined quality, prestige and know-how in an expressive, seductive wine. Today, Mouton Cadet has become the worldwide reference for Bordeaux Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée wines.

One step up on the AOC chain is the Premieres Cotes de Blaye AC, producing...

Learn About Bordeaux White Blends

Bordeaux White Blend
There's white wine in Bordeaux, too! Typically made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and bits of Muscadelle, white Bordeaux can be a fully dry table wine or, as in Sauternes, a deliciously sweet dessert wine. In other areas of the world, a Bordeaux blend consists primarily of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, either of which may be the predominant variety. Bordeaux blends can vary in style, but most have good acidity and often a mineral overtone.
