Moulin De Gassac Le Mazet Red 2004
Red Wine
from Languedoc-Roussillon, France
winemaker's notes:
Le Mazet or "small farm" embodies the Guibert family philosophy of farming small plots of ideal vineyard sites by natural methods. This traditional blend of Languedoc varietals captures the essence of Southern France.
Beautiful ruby red in color with brilliant tints. The nose is full of red berry aromas of cherry, blackberry and strawberry. Soft and fruity in the mouth with full tannins that are mellowed by the fruit flavors. It's slightly rustic which marks its terroir. Delicious now but will be very exciting in two years times.
Blend: 35% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 10% Cinsault, 5% Alicante

The description on Wine.com fits this wine to a "T". Its berry nose and fruity flavor are a delight although, as stated in the description, a few years of aging will definitely work to its advantage and enrich these fine qualities. I have recently tasted the 2003 and found that even the additional one year of aging has increased the pleasure I've derived from enjoying it.
