While in Catania Italy I tried a bottle of Nero dAvola and loved it. This is one of the best red wine's I have had. I strongly recommend you give it a try. I am very glad I did.

I had this for the first time last night at a local restaurant and I was very pleasantly surprised as I am used to a more bitter, drier red. This one is a definite keeper...I loved it. It is very versatile as it works with all types of meat dishes. Highly recommended (esp. for those beginning to dabble in red wine).

As a fan of dry red wines, especially Argiolas' 'Cannonau' di Sardegna, the Nero d'Avola was certainly a surprise. A fruity, raisin taste at first, very full-bodied with a drier aftertaste that was pleasing, not a dissapointment. It's unlike any other wine i've tatsted, smooth. Try it if you're a fan of sweet reds and goes well with light pasta and meat dishes.
