winemaker's notes:

Displaying fresh fruit aromas and flavors of cherries, strawberries and red currants, our 2008 Mirassou California Pinot Noir is as bright reflection of our heritage as the pioneer of California Pinot Noir. This wine is at its best if enjoyed within a year of release, but can age in the bottle for up to three years if carefully cellared.

critical acclaim:

"Medium ruby color; ripe earthy cherry aromas; rich, ripe, stewed cherry with some earth and spice notes; good structure and balance; long finish. Soft and fruity Pinot with nice spicy flavors."

rating (9/29/2010):
Excellent 'everyday' wine, we enjoy a bottle at least 3 times a week, buy 2 cases every 2 months. Very smooth, fruitful, light yet full bodied; nice easy finish. Definitely our favorite; excellent with lamb, Italian, salmon, even good with steak it you want something not as heavy as a Cab. Try it; you'll like it!
rating (11/30/2010):
Mirassou claims fruity, cherry, strawberry, plum? Thats a laugh. Think dirty gym socks. More accurate. It has bad after taste and a foul odor. Its not anything it claims. Its not smooth either. I coughed after first sip. I dumped bottle down the drain.

rating (9/27/2010):
I am drinking this Pinot while writing this note. It has a rather bland taste - not full-bodied at all in my opinion. However, it is relatively smooth for a $8 wine. But, it tastes almost like it's watered down. Very liquidy - not thick. It doesen't have a good nose either. It's not a really bad wine; I've had worse wines at higher prices. I'm on the fence about buying it again- the price is really cheap - it definitely tastes better than it's price. But I'd rather spend $15 more for a better Pinot, like a Twelve Clones Santa Lucia Highlands Morgan for example. Unfortunately, it isn't available here, but you can get it at BevMo.
