In the nose, an effusive fruit profile of blueberry and Santa Rosa plum merges with white peppery varietal spice, violet-like perfumes and smoky oak. On the palate, the tannin and oak-enlarged fruit take on a roasted, meaty viscosity, and the varietal spice, an anise-like flavor, mingles with dense, stony notes of terroir that winemaker Marco describes as "graphite".

Grown at 2,600 feet in the Sierra Nevada, it’s concentrated in cassis, licorice, cocoa, pepper and Provençal herb flavors, and is most notable for its harmony and complexity. Absolutely delicious, a first-class Syrah."
