Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Our Estates Cabernet Sauvignon is deep, dark and dense with rich favors of cherries, cassis and ripe berries. The palate is smooth and silky and the tannins are soft and polished.

In addition to sourcing grapes from three separate estate vineyards we also blend in small amounts of Petit Verdot and Merlot for greater complexity. Look for ripe, fruit-driven flavors loaded with cherries, cassis, boysenberry, sweet chocolate, vanilla and coffee. The palate is rich, concentrated, silky and long. This is a dense wine that pairs well with beef, lamb, BBQ, blue cheese or chocolate.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2007 Estates Cabernet Sauvignon which contains some Petit Verdot and Malbec also spent 14 months in barrel. Medium purple in color, it displays a bouquet of cedar, tobacco, spice box, violets, and black currant. Medium to full-bodied with good volume and intensity, it has plenty of savory black fruits, enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, and a lengthy fruit-filled finish."
88 Points

"This wine has muscle and grip; it’s a densely layered Cabernet, based upon cassis and loam, with firm, muscular tannins. At the moment it does not extend its power into the finish, but rather it seems to stop short. Try giving it extra breathing time."

Excellent for the price, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's from close by where we live so that's a + as well.
