Our Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a cohesive assemblage of seven different vineyards and sixteen meticulously crafted wines. Farming is tailored specifically to each vineyard block, to allow the fullest expression of its singular terroir. Once harvested, the specific choices we make in winemaking technique further enhance each site's unique personality. The final composition of the blend embodies the best qualities of our appellation, resulting in a virtual rainbow of aromas and flavors.
From the outset, this Pinot captivates with its jewel-like quality. The aroma has many facets ? dark cherry, rich plum and chocolate. As you swirl it in your glass, the complexity unfolds and expands, manifesting accents of licorice, vanilla bean and spicy oak. An enticing, succulent entry on the palate opens with masses of ripe fruit and a hint of earthiness, while firm, tarry tannins fill the extended finish. This wine will surprise you with its age-worthiness!

In 1997, Merry Edwards established her eponymous brand with a focus on producing Pinot Noir from the finest vineyards in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. in 2008, she and her husband, Ken Coopersmith, completed their new winery on the site of the Coopersmith Vineyard. In addition to this property, their estate vineyards now include Cresta d'Oro, Flax, Georganne, Meredith Estate and Sanchietti. They continue to partner with several dedicated local growers to supplement this estate production. Along with the two regional blends, six vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs are bottled. The Russian River Valley is named as such due to its proximity to the Russian River, the river itself named for the Russian fur traders who came down from Alaska in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The Russian River is agricultural land. While there is a focus on wine, beyond the vineyards are many small, family-owned farms cultivating everything from cattle to Christmas trees.
Notable FactsThe proximity of this cool river and the rolling fogs from the Pacific Ocean make the area amenable to cool-climate grapes like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In fact, the region is quite known for its full-bodied, yet elegant Pinot Noir, as well as their ripe, yet lean Chardonnays. Within Russian River Valley lie the smaller appellations of Chalk Hill and Green Valley. Chalk Hill is the warmer of the two and furthest from the ocean, while Green Valley is cooler and closer to the water.

Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer.
