Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino displays clear and intense ruby red color with aromas of fruit blends and hints of vanilla and sweet leaf tobacco. On the palate, full and round entry, generous mid-palate and a persistent and intriguingly tangy finish.

Pair with game, grilled red meats and mature cheese.

Critical Acclaim

"Sleek and racy, with a beam of cherry and berry fruit coated in dusty tannins. Comes together on the finish, showing enough sweet fruit for balance."

Style: Smooth & Supple
Pair with: Roast Leg of Lamb
Nicely done in a year where many Tuscan reds a just a bit lighter. The 2009 Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino is supple and rich. Smooth red frult flavors are enticing and easy-to-drink on the palate; finishes with a pleasingly serious note. Drinks exceptionally well now.

Tuscany is also home to the indigenous Italian grape variety, Sangiovese. Most of the wine coming from Tuscany is made from some clone of this...

For a stint in the 70s and 80s, wines labeled Chianti contained cheap red wine packaged in a straw casked bottle, most popular for the candle holder it would become. But no more. Sangiovese re...
