Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Straw yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet is fresh and fruity with strong and persistant notes of citrus, pineapple and white flowers. Fresh on the palate, with a perfectly balanced acidity. Good structure. A versatile wine with a complex and unique character.

At its best as an aperitif or with seafood dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2010 Falanghina Sannio is a beautiful, expressive wine at this level. Like so many 2010 whites it is cooler and more minerally than is often the case. Sweet floral notes linger on the exquisite finish. This entry-level Falaghina, from vineyards in the Sannio district, is quite different from the estate's Falanghina Morabianca, which is made from vines in Irpinia. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. "
