Greco di Tufo DOC is made from the vine of the same name imported to Italy by the Greeks before the founding of Rome. The historic writer Columella described it as Aminea Gemina referring to its own twin grape clusters. These grapes produce wines which are lasting and austere. The Greco vine, once found all over the Campania region, is today cultivated in a limited area of Irpinia, the Sabato Valley, at heights between 350 and 700 meters where it thrives best. Light golden in colour, Greco di Tufo is aromatic and has an intensely fruit bouquet. Dry, well balanced unique in flavour, this wine is especially suitable with crustaceans, grilled fish, poultry, cold dishes and as an aperitif.
