Barranc dels Closos Negre has a deep purple color with aromas of kirsch, licorice, and strawberries. It is lush and full on the palate with cherry-like fruit and a soft tannic finish.
This wine goes well with cream based pasta dishes like Alfredo and Carbonara, but is best when served with grilled meats. It also marries nicely with strong-flavored cheeses.
"The 2006 Barranc dels Closos is composed of 75% Garnacha and 25% Carinena aged for three months in French oak. Purple-colored, it offers up an expressive perfume of earth, slate, espresso, black cherry, blueberry, and licorice. This leads to a full-bodied wine with intense liquid mineral and black fruit flavors, outstanding depth, and enough ripe tannin to support an additional 2-3 years of cellaring. It should be at its finest from 2011 to 2021. It is a good introduction to the DO of Priorat."
