The historic Sarmassa single vineyard is situated within the communes of La Morra and Barolo in the Langhe hills of Italy's Piedmont region. Marchesi di Barolo owns this prized single vineyard in its entirety.
Barolo Sarmassa is produced from a harvest area of approximately 71/2 acres. Grapes are handpicked and vinified in early October. The following spring, wine is drawn off the vats and racked into 30-35 hl Slavonian oak vats to begin the required aging process.
