Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2007
Gamay
from Beaujolais, France
winemaker's notes:
Located in Villie-Morgon, the vines are 45 years old in average and are extended on 11 hectares with 1 on Côte du Py. All cultivation is undertaken with the organic methods. Our wines are raised in old oak, in thin sediments (without SO2), for approximately 9 months. At bottling time, we racked carefully and put together in a big tank different barrels and tuns.
From biodynamic producer Marcel Lapierre, this is probably as good as it got in 2007. It's a rich wine, concentrated, although the crisp fruits of the year tend to dominate. There are raspberry flavors, very pure, very fresh, but with some good depth of flavor. Using minimal amounts of sulfur and farming naturally, Lapierre's wine exudes aromas of cherry, licorice and violets. Enjoy with grilled salmon or poultry.
