Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.
Deep ruby-red with garnet hues, Brentino offers seductive aromas of blackberries and dark cherries, along with hints of cedar and forest due to the year spent aging in French barriques. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied and harmoniously balanced with a firm tannic backbone and distinct bold flavors. Recommended with roasted and grilled meats, as well as hearty winter stews or pastas.
"Maculan's 2008 Brentino is 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon aged partly in tank and partly in oak. There is plenty of beautifully articulated dark fruit, along with suggestions of violets, leather and licorice. The Brentino is an elegant, graceful red perfect for enjoying over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.
