I give it 3 maybe 3.5+ but certainly no more than 4.0 out of 5. The best pinot I've ever had was a glass of Felton Road while I was studying in New Zealand. It had a round, polished and complex cherry-vanilla thing going, whereas the Macrostie seems less smooth and more tannic. I've always wanted to try the great Burgundies, but alas, the money! I bought a case of mixed reds (France, Spain and US) and the MacRostie is definitely the best of the lot.
I'm not an avid Pinot drinker and I usually stick to 90 under 20 wines, but wanted to try something new. I chose this wine because of the Wine Enthusiast review. It was a good choice. This is one of those wines that grow on you with each glass and then is gone before you know it. It's a good time.
Salmon > Grilled
I bought this wine with an order of mostly more expensive Oregon pinots, but ended up liking it at least as much as most of them. It's centered and lightly fruity, but with salmon it got richer and jammier.
