The fruit's rich flavors, ripe tannins and balanced acidity enabled Michael to craft a Cabernet Sauvignon of unmatched richness, elegance and harmony. The wine's rich black fruit flavors and supple, sculpted tannins are fully married. This is a prestigious wine reflecting the animo, or "soul," of its maker: compelling, dynamic, and elegant.
"The best wine to date that I have tasted under this label is the 2007 M by Michael Mondavi. With a production of 1,000 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 20-22 months in French oak before bottling, it has the most opaque purple color of the group. The style seems like a Napa version of a Graves wine interwoven with one from St.Estephe. With plenty of distinct loamy soil, earth, and charcoal notes along with pure black currant and plum-like fruit, this wine is dense, full-bodied, still somewhat restrained, but displaying sweet, velvety tannins and impressive texture and length. This is a beauty that should be cellared for 3-4 years and drunk over the next 25-30. Rating: 94+

"Rich and dramatic by any standards, this new release offers a blast of ripe blackberry, currant and mineral flavors. New oak adds the perfect touch of smoky caramel. It’s pretty tannic, yet drinkable now after a good decant. Should age well throughout the decade.Cellar Selection"

Thus, the Mondavi family began their foray into California winemaking. Michael Mondavi Family Estate embodies...Read More About M by Michael Mondavi
It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...Read More About Napa Valley
(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...Read More About Cabernet Sauvignon
