The 2005 Napa Valley Merlot is a deep ruby color. This is a multi-faceted, and tightly integrated, Merlot. The nose is filled with scents of oranges, roses and earth. The mid-palate is a lush mixture of black raspberries, cassis and sweet tobacco. Fine-grained tannins and great acidity hold the wine together as the finish flows seamlessly into sweet basil, mushroom and pomegranate flavors. This Merlot will be showing at its best from 2012 through 2015.
