From superstar cru of Cannubi planted in 1945, 1962 & 1991. The South and Southeast slopes of the celebrated hill provide unbelievable magnitude, breed and longevity. Terrain is 30% sandstone, 55% clay, 15% limestone, at an altitude of 722 feet a.s.l.; crop is 2.2 tons per acre. The ensuing wine's amazing concentration is enhanced and fine-tuned by 18-20 months in French barriques and 10-12 months in Allier oak barrel. The result is a cellar life over 25 yrs.
"The 2006 Barolo Cannubi presents a more delicate expression of Nebbiolo than the decidedly virile Costa Grimaldi. As it sits in the glass the wine displays wonderful inner perfume, with pretty suggestions of menthol, red berries and spices, all buttressed by silky tannins. Sweet, sensual and enveloping all the way, the Cannubi exudes poise, harmony and sheer class. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. "

The Wine Advocate
"Good bright, deep red. Sweet red fruits, flowers and sexy oak on the nose. Silky, broad and weightless on the palate, with wonderfully clean and intense flavors of sweet red berries, cherry and flowers. Penetrating acidity and wonderfully suave, broad tannins give this beauty terrific class. Finishes with explosive fruit and outstanding breadth. Easy to appreciate today and capable of gaining in complexity with five to ten years in the bottle. This will make a worthy successor to the superb 2004 version."
International Wine Cellar
"There's a suppleness to this red that sits apart from the taut, sinewy tannins. Boasts cherry, strawberry, menthol and tobacco flavors, with a long, spicy finish. Just needs time. Best from 2013 through 2030."
