While light and crips, Croix du Roy Sancerre is the most full-bodied and masculine of the three core Sancerres of the domaine. It is vinified in stainless steel with a late racking to insure that the wine captures the essence of the terroir.
"From an unusually pebbly site on the western edge of Bue (and tasted on its fine less, in tank), Crochet’s 2009 Sancerre Clos du Roy smells of sage, black currant, and chalk dust; comes to the palate silken-textured yet bright, with distinctly chalky underpinnings; and finishes with adamant minerality yet juicy satisfaction. This is notably heat free, texturally alluring, distinctively mineral, and downright refreshing for its vintage – not to mention for 14% alcohol! – and should delightful over at least the next 3-4 years. Range: 89-90"
