Luce Della Vite Brunello di Montalcino 2007
Sangiovese from Tuscany, Italy
ratings pedigree (past vintages):
winemaker's notes:
The appearance is a very intense ruby red. Rich aromas of blueberry, currant, blackberry, and sour cherry mingle nicely with a hint of violet and spicier notes of cardamom, star anise, tobacco, and liquorice. Impressions of coffee, cocoa, and minerals complete the bouquet. The entry on the palate is lavish with elegantly integrated tannins. The wine is full bodied, well structured, and reveals decisive characteristics of the Montalcino region. The finish is lengthy and pleasingly intense.

critical acclaim:
"Luce della Vite opens with an opulent, generous style and is packed with black cherry, black currant, cola, leather and pipe tobacco. This is a plush, rich and deeply textured wine, with plenty of intensity and staying power. It shows dense tannins with a touch of youthful astringency. Age 10 more years. Cellar Selection"

Wine Enthusiast
"The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Luce emerges from the glass with sweet, super-ripe red cherries, mint, licorice and tobacco. This is an especially huge, powerful wine endowed with tremendous richness and sheer size. Firm yet well-integrated tannins frame the layered, explosive finish. The 2007 is much more elegant and polished than the 2006. The Luce spent three full years in French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025."
