Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine has a pale pink color, with youthful bluish highlights and fine, regular bubbles. There is an intense, pure Pinot Noir bouquet, offering an explosion of red fruit, with hints of liqueur. This is followed by a deep, thorough mineral quality with a fairly chalky feel. On contact with air, slightly more grilled, toasted aromas appear. There are multiple dimensions in the mouth, both dense and concentrated, with a delightful combination of red fruit, black fruit and fresh flowers, accompanied by crystalline and mineral sharpness. Incredible energy and concentration are expressed in the middle of the mouth. Due to the great ripeness of the grapes on limestone terroirs, this Cristal Rosé 2005, more than ever before, is on the frontier between the world of Champagne and the world of great, refined, concentrated Pinot Noirs. The perfect blend of finesse, concentration and energy!

Today, nearly 75% of Champagne...

Pink Bubbles Some Champagne and sparkling wine is pink. It's more rare, and more robust, and sometimes more expensive. But it's one of those wines that is just deliciously appealing. The pink color in a rose sparkler comes from the skins - which means that the wine must include at least one of the red grapes of the traditional method - Pinot Noir or Pinot...
