Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2008 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted from several of Sonoma County's most prestigious appellations and blended seamlessly to bring together the unique characteristics of each, creating a superbly balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. Made to accentuate the hightoned, delightful fruits of Sonoma County's vineyards, the wine offers many layers, featuring aromas and flavors of red cherry, blackberry and fresh sage with an underlying dry creek dustiness. Subtle herbal notes are complemented by additional layers of chocolate and vanilla, resulting in a complex, yet easy to enjoy, wine.

This wine has a deep red satin color that fills the glass. The nose is Hugh! I mean you can smell this wine before you even have it poured. This wine has a large amount of fruit on the nose. Blackberry, strawberry, cherry, and a hint of forest floor. Some of the same are mirrored on the palate. Blackberry, vanilla, cherry, and a little tobacco. The tannins are soft, but well layered throughout the mouth. This would be great with a steak, lamb, hamburger, or lasagna.

This is a standard CAB in our house we drink mostly reds and this is a great during the week bottle. Flavor is very good to the last drop.
